1. Nature of the Service
White Lake Township Residents Directory is a privately operated reference to public records sources and historical collections for White Lake Township, Oakland County, and Michigan. It does not host government records and has no affiliation with any government office, court, library, archive, or records custodian.
2. Acceptable Use Rules
Use the service only for lawful purposes. You may not use information or links from it to stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, discriminate against, impersonate, defraud, or harm another person. You may not attempt to discover a protected address, evade a record restriction, interfere with the service, scrape it excessively, or violate a custodian’s terms.
3. Consumer Reporting Notice
We are not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Information on or linked from this private reference may not be used for credit, insurance, employment, tenant screening, or any other purpose regulated by the FCRA. Do not treat a public-record index, a link, or a search result as an FCRA-compliant consumer report.
4. Third-Party Destinations
Links may lead to official government, library, archive, postal, association, or other outside services. Those services operate independently. Their records, availability, access conditions, fees, privacy practices, and terms control your use of them. We do not guarantee that an external link will remain active or that a destination will return a result.
5. No Warranty
The reference is provided as available and without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Public records can change, contain errors, omit protected material, or be indexed under a different name, address, date, or jurisdiction. Verify a fact with the office that created or keeps the record before relying on it.
6. Liability Limits
To the fullest extent allowed by law, White Lake Township Residents Directory and its operators are not liable for losses, claims, damages, or expenses arising from use of, inability to use, or reliance on the reference or an outside destination. This limit applies even when a possible loss has been mentioned.
7. Your Responsibility
You agree to defend and indemnify the service and its operators against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your misuse of the service, violation of these terms, violation of law, or infringement of another person’s rights.
8. Intellectual Property
The service’s original organization, explanatory writing, design, and branding are protected by applicable law. Official records and outside materials may have separate ownership, public-access, or license rules. You are responsible for observing the source’s own conditions before copying, downloading, republishing, or redistributing material.
9. Changes to These Terms
These terms may be revised when the service, law, or operations change. An updated version will be posted here. Use after publication of a revision means acceptance of the revised terms for future use.
10. Access Restrictions
We may suspend or end access for conduct that appears unlawful, abusive, automated beyond reasonable use, threatening, harmful, or inconsistent with these terms. Suspension does not limit any other right or remedy.
11. Michigan Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Michigan FOIA, MCL 15.231 et seq., governs access to many public-body records, but it does not make every record public and does not control this private reference. Record-specific statutes, privacy protections, and custodian procedures still apply.
12. Severability
If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, that part will be limited or removed only as necessary. The remaining terms will continue in effect.
13. Questions
Questions about these terms may be sent through the Contact page. Questions about a government record, certified copy, correction, fee, or denial should be directed to the public custodian that holds the file.
